Keane wants to show Spurs can compete

Robbie Keane hopes Tottenham Hotspur can show they can compete with the Premier League's top-four clubs by winning at Liverpool.

The men from White Hart Lane find themselves in the dreaded bottom three with just six points from their opening eight league games.

"If we cut out the goals and not concede we have every chance. Liverpool are a good side but I look at Liverpool and look at our squad and feel it is very similar" - Robbie Keane

And with manager Martin Jol's future the subject of much speculation, Keane is desperate to fire Spurs back up the table and improve the Dutchman's record against the top clubs.

The Republic of Ireland striker, who is captaining Spurs in the absence of the injured Ledley King, said: "That's what we want to achieve, to beat the top-four sides.

"We've always done well up there but we've never got over the hurdle to actually win the game. But we go there with confidence after playing well against Bolton away, we lost it a bit against Villa but in the last half-hour we did very well.
