Beckham gives England injury scare
David Beckham appears set to miss England's vital back-to-back Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Croatia at Wembley.
The 32-year-old midfielder fears he suffered a "ligament strain", which could sideline him for "four to six weeks", during Los Angeles Galaxy's SuperLiga trophy final defeat against Pachuca in California.
Following a 31st-minute challenge with Pachuca's Fernando Salazar, Beckham rolled on the ground in obvious pain and to undergo a scan in the next 24 hours.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star said: "It doesn't feel good. At the moment, we're calling it a ligament strain, but in the morning I'm going for a scan to see exactly what it is and how long I'm going to be out.
"This is a injury that takes 4 to 6 weeks, but who knows, if the scan is not so bad maybe I`ve got a chance to play (for England). We'll know more tomorrow."
Beckham, who has struggled for fitness since leaving Real Madrid for the Galaxy, has already missed eight of his new club's matches.
He added: "It's just gone from one thing to another thing. Maybe it is a sign to give it a rest, get it right and not come back until it is right."
England resume their bid to book their place in next summer's European Championship finals against Israel at Wembley on September 8 ahead of the visit of Russia four days later.
