An estimated 5,000 buyers, models and journalists have descended on the Natural History Museum for London Fashion week.

The event will feature much-anticipated collections from catwalk favourites Jasper Conran, Julien Macdonald and Paul Smith.

Fashion stylist to the stars Mark Heyes was at one of the first London Fashion Week shows, which came from high street chain Topshop.

He said: "It was quite exciting. It always attracts a certain type of celebrity.

Heyes also said that often the celebrities who view the shows overshadow the fashion on display.

"There is a huge fashion circus that goes on. There are an awful lot of egos out there."

The six-day event is expected to inject £20 million into the economy.
