Jankovic secured her semi-final spot with a 6-3 7-5 victory over the Czech Republic's Nicole Vaidisova in the first match on Suzanne Lenglen court.

Maria Sharapova, meanwhile, will face Serbia's Ana Ivanovic for a place in Saturday's Roland Garros final after beating Russian compatriot Anna Chakvetadze 6-3 6-4.

The world number two confessed to feeling like a "cow on ice" on clay as she battles to overcome a shoulder problem and claim her third Grand Slam title.

Seventh seed Ivanovic looked in particularly good shape as she knocked out third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-0 3-6 6-1.
