'Henman set to quit' - report

Tim Henman is reportedly set to hang up his tennis racquet after representing Great Britain in next month's Davis Cup tie against Croatia.

The 32-year-old from Oxfordshire, who had been ranked as high as fourth in the world five years ago, has endured a torrid time with injury in recent years.

And after recording just three victories on the ATP Tour this year, Henman has seen himself slump down to 92nd in the world rankings.

Reports claim the Wimbledon and French Open semi-finalist is not scheduled to play in any tournaments after Great Britain's World Group play-off clash which begins at Wimbledon on September 21.

Henman, who hopes to play in the US Open, said after ongoing back problems forced him to pull out of next week's Pilot Pen event in New Haven: "It's tough to concentrate on winning when I'm worrying about my back so I want to try to get it right as soon as possible.

"My goal now is to try to get as much treatment on it as possible before the start of the US Open."

Lawn Tennis Association chief executive Roger Draper has claimed reports of Henman's retirement are premature.

Draper said: "Jan Felgate, who's his agent, has basically said there's no official confirmation. But it's clear his career will end sooner rather than later.

"Tim's his own man. He's always made his own decisions. He may fancy one more shot at Wimbledon next year and only time will tell."
