Cotton show beats Richard and Judy
Corrie star turned TV presenter Antony Cotton has beaten Richard and Judy in the ratings with the first instalment of his new show.
The debut of the That Antony Cotton Show pulled in two million viewers, with only 1.1 million tuning into watch rivals Richard and Judy.
Cotton, who plays Sean Tully on Coronation Street, has been given time off by the soap's bosses to host the show for five weeks.
ITV1 had been struggling to fill their 5pm slot after Paul O'Grady defected to Channel 4.
But the new tea-time show - which is a combination of comedy and celebrity interviews - has been a roaring success, smashing through the ratings for O'Grady's 2004 debut of 1.9 million.
Now Cotton and O'Grady will battle for the top spot over the next few weeks when Richard and Judy take their annual summer break.
