Two charged over Oyebola murder

Two men have been charged with the murder of heavyweight boxer James Oyebola.

The 47-year-old was shot in the head outside the Chateau 6 nightclub in Fulham Road, south-west London on July 23, after reminding a group of men of the new smoking ban.

Mr Oyebola, known as Big Bad during his fighting career, arrived at the bar about two hours before the shooting for a drink with the owner after finishing work at a nearby bar

Rene McKoy, 19, and Kanyanta Mulenga, 22, will appear at West London Magistrates' Court on Friday, Scotland Yard said.

He died in hospital on July 26 after his life support was switched off.

Mr Oyebola, known as Big Bad during his fighting career, arrived at the bar about two hours before the shooting for a drink with the owner after finishing work at a nearby bar.

Mr Oyebola, born in Nigeria, won 18 of his 23 fights, and was a bronze medallist at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. He retired in 1996 having won the WBC international heavyweight title in 1993.
