Federer makes it five-in-a-row
Roger Federer has clinched his fifth successive Wimbledon title with a five sets win over Rafael Nadal.
The Swiss beat the Spaniard 7-6 4-6 7-6 2-6 6-2 to become the second man in the Open era to win the title five years in a row.
He equalled the record set by Bjorn Borg between 1976 and 1980, and the Swede was watching in the Royal Box on centre court as Federer emulated him.
Federer clinched the victory with a straight-forward smash to break Nadal's serve and he was in tears when he returned to his chair.
He was playing in his ninth successive Grand Slam final and his only defeats in those nine finals came against Nadal in the French Open.
Federer has now won 11 Grand Slam titles.
