Harry eyes duo for Spurs roles
Clive Allen and Tim Sherwood are contenders to join Harry Redknapp's backroom team at Tottenham.
On Monday, Redknapp brought in kevin Bond as a coach and he will also recruit at least one assistant, with former Spurs players Allen and Sherwood in the frame.
The new Tottenham boss said: "Kevin is my assistant and I'm delighted to have him with me but he's a terrific coach so I'm well pleased."
Of the other contenders, the 61-year-old added: "Tim would never let you down.
"He's got a fantastic knowledge of the game, he's played for me and captained Blackburn to the title - he would make a great coach and needs to give it a go now.
"I think he's a bit worried about what's involved - but he needs to take the gamble."
Asked about Allen, who is on the Spurs payroll already, Redknapp said: "I've known Clive for a long time. He's a legend at Tottenham and his dad was as well - and he's a terrific coach.
"I want him with me. He knows the game and he was a big help on Sunday."
As for Portsmouth, Redknapp believes his former club are in good shape, and has backed his former assistants Tony Adams and Joe Jordan to excel, if they are given the chance.
But bookmakers also have former Bolton and Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce, ex-Chelsea manager and former Pompey technical director Avram Grant and Celtic's Gordon Strachan up for the top job.
