Harbhajan banned for slapping opponent
India bowler Harbhajan Singh has been banned for 11 Indian Premier League matches for slapping an opponent.
The spinner was playing for Mumbai Indians against Kings Eleven Punjab and TV pictures appeared to show him slap Shanthakumaran Sreesanth at the end of the match.
Harbhajan pleaded guilty to a Level 4.2 Code of Conduct offence and was fined 100 per cent of his match fee.
He will not be available for Mumbai until the semi-finals.
Mumbai Indians coach Lalchand Rajput was fined 50 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of a Level 2 offence at the same hearing.
IPL commissioner Lalit Modi said: "Rajput did not do enough to stop the incident. Rajput was right behind Harbhajan when the incident took place. He didn't take any step to restrain him."
Sreesanth, meanwhile, was let off with a warning for his part in the altercation.
