Teens charged with attempted murder

Two teenage boys have been charged with attempting to murder two police officers by deliberately driving a car into them.

The 15-year-old and 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are due to appear at Camberwell Youth Court on Monday.

The younger boy has also been charged with dangerous driving relating to the incident which took place in Battersea, south London, in the early hours of Friday.

Armed police were dispatched to the scene after reports that a group of people had been seen with firearms.

They began searching, but as officers approached a black Honda Civic in a car par, the driver revved the engine and drove at them from a few feet away.

Two PCs who were struck by the vehicle were taken to hospital with injuries described as non life-threatening. One suffered heavy bruising and cuts to his leg and arm while the other had "impact injuries".
