McFly host Kids Choice Awards

McFly have hosted the first ever Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in the UK, which is chosen by children.

The 16 categories included Best Band, Best Movie, Best Book, Best Burp, Best Reality TV Show, Best Sportsperson and a special environmental honour - the Greenie Award.

Harry Potter took two gongs - one for star Emma Watson, who was crowned Best Movie Actress, and the other for Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows which picked up the award for Best Book.

X Factor was named Best Reality Show, with past show winner and chart topper Shayne Ward collecting the gong on behalf of the show.

Hosts McFly were named Best Band, ahead of Fall Out Boy, Girls Aloud and Sugababes.

Skater chick Avril Lavigne won Best Female Singer and MTV Hits Best Music Video.

The awards ceremony, held at the Excel in London, also honoured Johnny Depp (Best Movie Actor), The Simpsons (Best Movie) and David Beckham (Best Sportsperson).

Nancy Drew actress Emma Roberts was the proud recipient of the Greenie Award.
