Sven makes transfer plans

Sven-Goran Eriksson believes he will strengthen his Manchester City squad in January.

The former England boss has handed club owner Thaksin Shinawatra a list of players he wants to sign and he was pleased with the response.

Eriksson said: "Dr Thaksin has a very long list, but I've told him it will be shorter and shorter. He knows what we are thinking about and what we are talking about.

"He didn't seem to be too shocked, so that was good. He's been informed about everything we are thinking about maybe doing. It's both names and positions, Dr Thaksin has a combination of that.

"If we are taking in players, it will be those who can give something to this team.

"Everything should be ready on December 31 but there are a lot of negotiations."
