Tim Henman has failed to end his losing run in the first round of the Artois Championships at Queen's Club.

The British number two's miserable season has continued as he crashed out 6-7 6-2 4-6 at the hands of unheralded wild card Marin Cilic of Croatia.

Tim Henman's miserable season has continued as he crashed out 6-7 6-2 4-6 at the hands of unheralded wild card Marin Cilic of Croatia

Cilic struck first blood, taking the opening set 7-5 on a tie-break, before the 32-year-old from Oxfordshire struck back.

And despite Henman, who has been struggling with a stomach bug, opening up a 4-2 lead in the third and final set it was the Croatian who prevailed.

The result means that Henman has won just one match during an injury-ravaged season and will go into Wimbledon with little match practice.

Greg Rusedski, meanwhile, began his final tournament with a 6-3 7-5 win over qualifier Chris Llewellyn at the Liverpool International tournament.
