A potential new witness to the murder of Rhys Jones has contacted police after watching a TV reconstruction of the crime.

The man told detectives that he was in the car park of the Fir Tree pub in Croxteth, Liverpool, when the 11-year-old was shot on August 22.

Detectives are also looking for a boy, aged 13 or 14, who was outside the pub shortly before Rhys was gunned down

Appeals were renewed by Crimewatch after police said they believed a woman in a red car may have seen the killer.

Detectives are also looking for a boy, aged 13 or 14, who was outside the pub shortly before Rhys was gunned down.

The boy, who was riding a silver BMX bike, also attended a vigil at Croxteth Country Park on Sunday September 2.

He had fair hair and was wearing a white T-shirt and grey trousers.
