Former Celtic boss dies

Former Celtic manager Tommy Burns has died at the age of 51 after a battle with skin cancer.

He spent 15 seasons as a player with the club and three years as manager.

Burns also played for Scotland and recently worked as a Scotland's assistant manager under Walter Smith.

A Celtic statement read: "It is with great sadness that Celtic Football Club confirmed this morning that Tommy Burns has passed away.

"Tommy, a true Celtic legend and wonderful man will be sadly missed by us all.

"Clearly, our thoughts are very much with Tommy's wife Rosemary and his family at this extremely difficult time."

Burns was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2006. He suffered a recurrence in March this year and received treatment in Glasgow and France.
