England coach Steve McClaren has played down claims of a dressing room row with Wayne Rooney.

Reports claimed they had clashed after the goalless draw with Israel on Saturday.

"What happens in the dressing room is private" - Steve McClaren

But McClaren insists there is no rift between him and the Manchester United striker.

He said: "What happens in the dressing room is private.

"We are very professional with each other. We have great respect with each other. We have worked together for many years.

"Everybody is together. Everybody knows what we have got to do and we have got to start doing it."

McClaren also revealed he is happy to carry on as England boss despite the current criticism of the team's performances.

He added: "My desire is greater than ever."
