James Toseland crashed out of his debut British Moto GP at Donington Park and Casey Stoner won the race comfortably.

The former Superbikes rider qualified in 16th place after crashing three times during a rain-soaked practice session.

"I have let everyone down" - James Toseland

He made a good start but was thrown off his bike at Redgate corner and finished 17th.

Toseland said: "Today has been possibly the most disappointing day of my life.

"I have let everyone down. The weekend wasn't about personal achievement and letting myself down comes second to letting the fans down."

Valentino Rossi finished second and Dani Pedrosa was third.

Toseland suffered a badly-bruised hand but expects to compete in the Dutch Grand Prix next weekend.
