A Shanghai supermarket is stocking bottles of good vibes, cans of stress killers and remedies for the soul.

FLOWmarket is the brainchild of Danish artist Mads Hagstrom and has made its Chinese debut at Shanghai's arts festival.

Hagstrom defines his FLOWmarket as an ethically significant shopping experience

The Dane is selling empty bottles, milk cartons and cans labelled with spiritual concepts.

FLOWmarket, which translates as "Soul Market" in Mandarin, has attracted much attention from curious locals and tourists alike.

The reasonable prices of the goods have proved a hit with customers like 25-year-old Ling Tao: "When we buy things we will have to see whether it is worth the money. I feel the things here are worth the money because it is quite creative."

Hagstrom defines his FLOWmarket as an ethically significant shopping experience, where he reminds shoppers what is truly important in today's consumerist society.

Organiser of the art festival, Jeannie Cheung said: "Just like the concept of FLOWmarket, they are selling something but they are selling consumer awareness.

So through these products, we do remind our customers to care about their own selves or think twice before they do something. I think that's the whole idea".
