Mum worries for Amy

The mother of troubled singer Amy Winehouse has spoken of her despair at her daughter's drug addiction.

Amy had been due to share top billing at the V Festival, but was forced to pull out to complete a stint in rehab.

Amy's mum, Janis, 52, said she is worried about Amy's "addled brain" and claims her daughter is "on a path of self-mutilation and lucky to be alive."

"It's like a sickness but she cannot see it," she added.

Fellow musicians have rallied around Amy. Kanye West, paid a special tribute by performing Amy anthem 'Rehab' at the V Festival in her honour.

And Paolo Nutini, who will support Amy if her September tour goes ahead said: "[Amy] is a human being and there is no reason why you should be expected to just get on with it."
