Tory leader David Cameron has offered the Liberal Democrats a power-sharing deal.
He said the two parties should work together in a "progressive alliance" to divert power from Whitehall.
The proposal was dismissed by outgoing Lib Dem acting leader Vince Cable, who accused the Conservative leader of living in "cloud cuckoo land"

Mr Cable said: "The Liberal Democrats will continue to work with other parties on issues where we have common ground and can work together in the national interest.
"However, this is not a serious proposal and David Cameron clearly lives in cloud cuckoo land."
Mr Cameron also suggested that the Green Party could be brought into the alliance.
