Manchester United have been fined £25,000 because seven of their players were booked during the 1-1 draw at Tottenham.

Wes Brown, Nani, Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney, Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic were all shown yellow cards by referee Mark Clattenburg, who also booked three Spurs players.

"It was handball and how the linesman did not see it I will never know" - Rio Ferdinand

Any team that picks up six or more bookings in a match is automatically fined £25,000 and United will be hit with a £50,000 bill if they pick up another six bookings in a single match before the end of the season.

However, United have been told they will not face disciplinary action for complaining to the referee that Tottenham's goal should have been disallowed because Jermaine Jenas had handled the ball.

United defender Rio Ferdinand said: "I thought they were fortunate with their goal. It was handball and how the linesman didn't see it I will never know.

"I was behind it and I could see it and I don't know how the linesman didn't. That's why I was remonstrating with him."
