While Jade Goody continues her 'private' trip to India amid a media scrum, Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson has managed to carry out her charity work in the country relatively unnoticed.

Jade sparked angry protests when she argued with Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty on reality show Celebrity Big Brother.

She told Shilpa she needed to spend time in the slums - advice she has hardly followed herself by staying at the £190-per-night Le Meridien in Delhi.

She said: "It's private and there are no cameras or anything. I've paid for the trip myself. That's all I want to say."

Meanwhile, a genuine A-lister's also do-gooding in the country. Scarlett really has been touring the slums on a ten-day visit with Oxfam.

The 22-year-old star even missed Sunday's Oscars to take the trip which includes visiting a school in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, set up to educate children from the poorest social classes.

Scarlett's also travelled to Sri Lanka where Oxfam's helping the reconstruction effort following the 2004 tsunami.
