Ranieri takes Juventus job
Claudio Ranieri will not be the next Manchester City manager as he has been appointed by Juventus.
Ranieri resigned as Parma manager last week, days after keeping the club in Serie A and it was widely expected he would take over at Manchester City if Thaksin Shinawatra completed a takeover.
But he has accepted one of the highest-profile jobs in European football so City must continue their search for Stuart Pearce's replacement.
Former Liverpool and Lyon manager Gerard Houllier has been linked with the vacancy.
Juventus were relegated to Italy's second division last summer as a result of the 'calciopoli' scandal, where it was revealed clubs had influenced the appointment of referees.
The Turin club were also deducted nine points but bounced back to win the division and they will be back in Serie A next season and are likely to challenge for a place in the Champions League.
Former Juventus player Didier Deschamps was in charge of the club last season but he resigned soon after clinching promotion.
