The prosecution at Chester Crown Court says the sales manager was punched to the ground and kicked "as if he were a football".

Mr Newlove had left his house barefoot to remonstrate with a gang over vandalism to cars parked outside.

He was knocked unconscious and died at Warrington General Hospital two days later.

The five suspects - two 17-year-olds, a 16-year-old, a 15-year-old and 19-year-old Adam Swellings from Crewe, Cheshire - deny murder.
