A former Neighbours star is looking to put the days of memorising scripts behind her in pursuit of a singing career.

Stephanie McIntosh played Sky Mangel in the Aussie soap, and now she's following the likes of Kylie, Holly Valance and Natalie Imbruglia by releasing her album.

The 21-year-old, who is the half-sister of Jason Donovan, said of her debut: "I've just been doing it for the past 18 months back in Australia and I just wrapped up Neighbours, so I'm ready to come (to the UK) and release it."

When asked if she ever plans to return to the soap, she said: "I've left Ramsey Street - but never say never."

The single Mistake is out on June 25.
