Stone calls for Iraq withdrawal
Controversial US director Oliver Stone is adding his voice to the growing calls for US troops to be withdrawn from Iraq.
The Oscar winning film maker has made a 30 second TV advert demanding that soldiers start coming home.
The advert, sponsored by political groups MoveOn.Org and VoteVets.Org features a simple but impassioned plea from former army Sergeant John Bruhns, who fought during the 2003 invasion.
It comes just days after US President George W Bush vetoed legislation which would have required a date to be set for US troops to withdraw from Iraq.
Stone said: "I made three movies about Vietnam and I thought it was behind us.
"This is a bad summer repeat of a war that happened 40 years ago. We must listen to the soldiers who are coming back."
Stone, a Vietnam veteran himself, has based many of his movies on war, including Platoon and Born On The Fourth Of July.
