Ronaldo confirms Real interest
Cristiano Ronaldo has risked the wrath of Sir Alex Ferguson by telling a Brazilian website he wants to play for Real Madrid.
The Portugal star announced at the weekend he would make an annoucement about his future plans soon.
He is quoted on the respected website Terra, saying: "I would like to play for Real Madrid but only if it is true they are ready to pay what Manchester United ask of them.
"However, it does not depend on me.
"From today I'm not going to talk about this topic with anyone at all. I'll only talk about this again after the European Championships. Don't ask me any questions because I won't answer."
Ferguson has made it clear he does not want to sell Ronaldo, but there are suggestions Ronaldo is unhappy being used as a striker at Old Trafford.
Ferguson recently claimed United's owners would rather drop Ronaldo from the team than sell him to Real and the Spanish club have made it clear they will not upset United by making an offer if they want to hold Ronaldo to his contract.
