Westwood's credit crunch tips
Vivienne Westwood has offered handy advice to fashionistas who want to beat the credit crunch.
At Paris fashion week, she told guests in a handwritten statement: "In these hard times - dress up.
"There is status in wearing your favourites over and over until they grow old, or fall apart."
The designer's show featured tops made from knotted squares of fabric, dresses seemingly created out of bedsheets and strings of safety pins as necklaces.
"I'm trying to be positive in these hard times, don't just go looking round for bargains all over the place. You can just take the table cloth from your, you know, and do things yourself," Westwood said.
The British designer earned the nickname Queen of Punk by putting together outfits for the Sex Pistols using safety pins.
