Alonso pips Hamilton
Spaniard Fernando Alonso has won the Monaco Grand Prix with his team-mate Britain's Lewis Hamilton finishing second.
It was processional one-two around Monte Carlo for the two McLaren drivers who started on the front of the grid.
The win for Alonso means that he now joins Hamilton at the top of the driver's standings and leads the table on account of race wins.
Despite five podium finishes in the first five races of his Formula One career, Hamilton must wait another day for his maiden victory.
Reigning world champion Alonso did have to withstand a charging Hamilton at one stage late on in the 78-lap race before claiming the 17th victory of his career.
With no way past on the tight, twisty street circuit, Hamilton was forced to settle for second place for the fourth successive race, finishing four seconds adrift.
Ferrari's Felipe finished 69 seconds down in third, with Giancarlo Fisichella fourth and lapped in his Renault, but claiming his best result of the year.
BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld came home fifth and sixth to consolidate the team's third place in the constructors' championship, with Williams' Alexander Wurz seventh ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in the second Ferrari.
