Chambers plans to run at Olympic trials

Dwain Chambers is taking the first steps towards overturning his lifetime ban from the British Olympic team.

The sprinter has served a two-year ban for doping offences and the British Olympic Association (BOA) does not allow drug cheats to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games, even when their bans have been served.

However, Chambers has handed over a letter to UK Sport, which describes how he took performance-enhancing drugs and disguised the doping from officials.

And his compliance may pave the way for his Olympic ban to be overturned.

Chambers's lawyer Nick Collins said: "We can confirm that Dwain Chambers will be taking proceedings to secure his eligibility/participation in the Olympic and National trials in Birmingham from 11-13 July."

If Chambers wins the Olympic trials, he is expected to mount a legal challenge against the BOA.
