Resolute South Africa frustrate England

South Africa's opening batsmen Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie have given the tourists hope of denying England victory in the first Test at Lord's.

Both players scored centuries as South Africa frustrated England's bowlers on the fourth day.

South Africa could still force a draw if they bat into the final day

England bowled 92 overs and only claimed one wicket.

Smith was eventually caught out for 107, while McKenzie will start the final day on 102 not out.

South Africa will resume on 242 for one and they still need 104 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

But Smith and McKenzie have taken some of the momentum away from England.
