Sir Alex defends Curbishley
Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed suggestions that Manchester United will find it easy to beat West Ham.
United will be crowned champions if they win their remaining two league games against the Hammers and Wigan.
West Ham boss Alan Curbishley has made it clear that he believes United are the best team in the Premier League and he has been quoted as saying it would be an injustice if United fail to win the title.
Chelsea boss Avram Grant said he does not doubt West Ham's integrity but criticised Curbishley's comments.
Ferguson said: "I don't know why he's suggesting there's going to be anything untoward.
"Cheslea should know better than anyone about these situations but we must be in the driving seat, if we both win two games we have the better goal difference."
Ferguson also believes United's victory over Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final will give his players a boost.
He added: "I think the most important thing is our result on Tuesday night, it gave us the lift at the right time.
"Now we can pick our strongest team for the next two games and have the squad to change it if we want to and hopefully we can get over the line."
Ferguson has also expressed his surprise that Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is facing the sack after one season in charge.
Ferguson said: "Nothing amazes you but I am surprised. We have all different types of owners in Premier League football I'm afraid.
"Sometimes I read the newspapers and find it quite hard to fathom these situations, stories that first Luiz Felipe Scolari, then Slaven Bilic, then Jose Mourinho is going to get the City job.
"You have all different types of owners coming into football now and some want to be hands-on.
"That's why I'm very fortunate, the Glazer family have been tremendous. They have let me get on with my job and I think that speaks volumes for our club.
"At some other clubs the owners want to pick the team. I know at one club the owner faxes his team to the manager every Saturday morning. Can you believe that?"
