Terracotta Army comes to the UK
Twenty soldiers from China's famous Terracotta Army have gone on display at the British Museum.
The life-size figures have taken pride of place in a new exhibition dedicated to China's first Emperor.
A record 59,000 advance tickets have already been sold for the exhibition, which is the largest collection of the Terracotta Army ever to be shown outside of China.
One of the world's great archaeological finds, the full Terracotta Army consists of over 8,000 figures of warriors and horses.
The figures were originally buried with the Emperor Qin Shihuangdi in 210BC in readiness for his battles in the afterlife.
The Army was then discovered in March 1974 by local farmers drilling a water well to the east of Mount Lishan.
The figures will be on display to the public at the British Museum from September 13 until April 2008.
