Beckham to play in California charity game
David Beckham is to play in a special charity match to raise money for those affected by the devastating wildfires in southern California.
Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy will take on a celebrity team called Hollywood United at their Carson home on November 4 in a match benefiting the US Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
The likes of Frank Leboeuf, Richard Gough and former US internationals Joe-Max Moore, Eric Wynalda and Galaxy general manager Alexi Lalas will all feature for the Hollywood team, which could call on the services of ex-Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones.
Lalas said: "We've all witnessed the destruction these wildfires have caused throughout Southern California.
"Through soccer, we have the ability to help those who have been impacted by this disaster. We encourage all Galaxy fans and soccer fans everywhere to come out and support this worthy cause."
Around 500,000 people have been forced to leave their homes after almost a week of relentless blazes between LA and the Mexican border which have already claimed the lives of at least 12 people.
