Voight desperate to meet Brangelina twins

Angelina Jolie's father, veteran actor Jon Voight, has said he is delighted about the birth of his latest grandchildren.

The Oscar-winning star of Coming Home and Midnight Cowboy was speaking to reporters while promoting his forthcoming appearance as a villain in the new season of 24.

He said: "All I can say is, just like any other father, you are very very excited - I mean, it's the most exciting thing to have new souls coming in, you know.

"There isn't anything more exciting than that, and that they are Angie's babies and Brad's."

Voight and Jolie have been estranged for many years.

The rift between them became public in 2002 when Voight publicaly stated he wanted his daughter to "get help" for "serious mental problems" after her break up with Billy Bob Thornton.

She hit back, saying he could have caused the authorities to take her adopted son Maddox into custody.

But last year the pair were said to have made steps towards patching things up. Now the proud new grandfather says he'll dash over to see the babies just as soon as his daughter invites him - but as yet he hasn't hasn't heard from Brangelina.

He said: "If they call me I am going to find a way, but I haven't got the call yet, so..."
