Rocker Rod Stewart has announced his plans to kick off a tour in North America.

The Maggie May star will take to the stage for his first show in Paso Robles in California on July 30.

US singer Bryan Adams is lined up to open the first seven dates of the show

The veteran musician will then move on to 16 other cities before his final set in Tampa on August 28.

"I couldn't be more excited. Eighteen of my favourite cities and I don't intend to disappoint any of my fans - at least not the paying ones," he said jokingly in a statement.

Canadian singer Bryan Adams is lined up to open the first seven dates of the show.

Stewart will be promoting his 2007 album Still the Same: Great Rock Classics of Our Time, which has sold 710,000 copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
