'School rape' investigated

Detectives are investigating allegations that a 15-year-old girl was raped at a school, police have confirmed.

Officers said two boys, aged 14 and 15, had been arrested and bailed pending further investigation into incidents alleged to have taken place at a school in Birmingham between January and April this year.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "We can confirm that we are investigating allegations of rape of a 15-year-old girl.

"Two boys aged 14 and 15 have been arrested and are currently on police bail pending further inquiries."

Birmingham City Council said two pupils had been excluded from the school, which is not being named.

A spokesman for the local authority said: "This matter is subject to current police proceedings and the school is fully supporting the police investigation.

"The safety of all our young people is of paramount importance, and Birmingham City Council will provide support to staff and pupils at the school when the summer term commences."
