US singer Jessica Simpson looks set to be the next celebrity to adopt a child.

The Dukes of Hazzard star will be following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Madonna if she goes through with her plans to adopt a child from an orphanage.

Jessica's minister father Joe has been taking his famous daughter to see the children over the last 11 years and the star recalls cradling a baby who had been abandoned in a bin and begging her dad if she could take him home.

Divorcee Jess says she would like to adopt before having her own biological kids.

The 27-year-old starred in popular reality show Newly Weds: Nick and Jessica with her then husband US pop singer Nick Lachey but the couple got divorced after three years of marriage.
