She is no stranger to reality TV, having launched her pop career by winning a place in the girl band on Popstars: The Rivals.
At a press conference to launch the new series of X Factor, 25-year-old Cheryl said her new TV job was not a source of friction with her Girls Aloud pals.
She said: "They are probably more excited than I am.
"They were actually the ones that almost forced me into it. Actually, it was quite a difficult decision."
