Sony radio nominations announced

Radio 1 star Chris Moyles and comedian Russell Brand have been nominated for gongs at this year's Sony Radio Academy Awards.

The awards which have been dubbed the "Oscars" of the radio industry sees Moyles up against early morning rival Johnny Vaughan (Capital 95.8) for the Breakfast Show Award.

The 26th Sony Radio Academy Awards takes place on May 12 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London

Brand, who launched his Saturday late-night Radio 2 show in 2006, is nominated in the Entertainment category.

Radio 2 star Jonathan Ross is in the running for Music Radio Personality of the Year, against Zane Lowe (Radio 1), Jamie Theakston (Heart 106.2), Geoff Lloyd (Virgin Radio) and Adam @ Breakfast for Rock FM.

Radio 2, Radio 4 and 5 Live are up for national UK Station of the Year.
