Fifa to settle Tevez impasse?

Officials from Fifa and the Football Association could be summoned in a bid to force through Carlos Tevez's transfer from West Ham United to Manchester United.

The 23-year-old Argentina striker's dream move to Old Trafford has been put on hold after the Premier League ruled that the Hammers must receive the vast majority of the reported £30 million-plus fee.

Tevez's economic rights are owned by businessman Kia Joorabchian, who failed in his bid to buy the Upton Park club at the end of last year.

And while the Red Devils have agreed terms with Tevez and Joorabchian, the deal has reached an impasse.

It is understood some of those involved in the negotiations believe the Premier League can no longer act as independent arbiter in the case.

And Tevez's representatives are set to request help from the FA and Fifa, the two bodies who oversee transfers at a domestic and international level.

Fifa can become involved if there is an international element to a transfer or if it is asked to by the FA.

A spokesman for world football's governing body said: "We have not received any official request from any of the parties involved so far.

"If we do receive a request we would then decide whether we have to look at it or if it is up to the FA to rule on it.

"The FA could also ask us for guidance and send us all the relevant information."
