Juventus have completed the signing of Mohamed Sissoko from Liverpool in an £8.2 million deal but will not allow midfielder Tiago to head back to the the Premier league with Spurs.

Tottenham had been interested in adding the former Chelsea player to their ranks, but Juve sporting director Alessio Secco stated the 26-year-old would now be given more time to prove himself with the Italian club.

Spurs are hoping its third time lucky in their attempt to lure Rangers right-back Alan Huttton to the club

Tiago joined Juve from Lyon last summer but has struggled to make an impact under Claudio Ranieri, making just nine Serie A appearances this season.

And he may see even fewer opportunities over the second half of the campaign with Sissoko signing a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Mali international Sissoko had become frustrated by his lack of first team opportunities at Liverpool.

He becomes the second Premier League player to sign for the Turin giants this week after Aston Villa's Olof Mellberg agreed to join the club on a Bosman in the summer.

Meanwhile, Spurs are hoping its third time lucky in their attempt to lure Rangers right-back Alan Hutton to the club.

Hutton, 23, had indicated he wanted to stay at Ibrox earlier this month, but the appeal of the Barclays Premier League looks to have led him to London where he would link up in defence with Jonathan Woodgate, who signed from Middlesbrough on Monday.

Heading from the Premier League to the SPL is Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras.

The 22-year-old Greek player is out of favour at the City of Manchester Stadium and has signed for Celtic on loan for the remainder of the season.

He believes the move will help in his ambition of playing for his country at Euro 2008.
