Arsene Wenger has high hopes for his young Gunners after Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League with a 3-1 win at Reading.

The north Londoners extended their unbeaten run to 27 matches in all competitions as a goal apiece from Mathieu Flamini, Emmanuel Adebayor and Alexander Hleb were on target at the Madejski.

"We wanted to get back in charge of this league. We have a game in hand, and so at the moment it is going well" - Arsene Wenger

Adebayor's goal was Arsenal's 1,000th Premier League strike and a delighted Wenger reflected after his men leapfrogged Manchester United by the virtue of goals scored: "Let's see how far we can go.

"At the moment, this team is a pleasure to work with on a daily basis. They have a fantastic attitude every day in training. They are hungry, they want to improve always.

"There is a great bonding in the team and when you have these ingredients plus the talents we have, you can be very hopeful for the future."

Wenger is hoping that his men can maintain their momentum following the international break.

He added: "We wanted to get back in charge of this league. We have a game in hand, and so at the moment it is going well.

"Now everybody goes on a break and then we play Wigan at home. The international programme of the players is quite heavy for some of them.

"We lost (Cesc) Fabregas with suspension tonight for Wigan, so let's hope everybody comes back without injury."
