Bush slips up on American history
Updated 21.28 Mon May 07 2007
President Bush has made another gaffe by winking at the Queen while making a speech.
His staff must have prayed the President could meet the Queen without one of his slip-ups but they were wrong.
"She gave me a look that only a mother could give a child" - George Bush
He recovered from jumbling his words by cracking a joke which only he could hope to get away with.
He said: "You helped our nation celebrate it's bicentennial in seventeen..."
Then he stopped and corrected himself because America celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 1976.
He turned to the Queen and winked, then said: "She gave me a look that only a mother could give a child."
