
Doctor Who leads the way at TV Awards
Doctor Who has been nominated for three accolades at the National Television Awards.
The sci-fi show is up for most popular drama, facing competition from Life on Mars, Shameless and The Bill.
Stars David Tennant and Freema Agyeman have been nominated for best actor and actress.
A new category has been introduced at this year's event, with Any Dream Will Do, Dancing on Ice, Strictly Come Dancing, The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent set to battle it out for the best talent show prize.
Meanwhile, the nominees for the most popular entertainment programme include Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Deal or No Deal, An Audience With Take That Live, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and 8 Out of 10 Cats.
Ant and Dec and Jonathan Ross are also up for most popular entertainment presenter, along with Fern Britton, Graham Norton and Paul O'Grady.
Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are up for best soap.
Winners of the National TV Awards are voted for by the public, and they will be announced at a ceremony on October 31.
