England one-day captain Paul Collingwood has been fined £1,000 by team bosses for visiting a lap-dancing bar in the early hours of Saturday.

The fine was announced before England attempt to win their final match of the Super Eight stage of the ICC World Twenty20 against India and hope other results fall in their favour to allow qualification for this weekend's semi-finals.

"It's obviously unacceptable and I'll have to learn from that" - Paul Collingwood

Collingwood said: "It's obviously unacceptable and I'll have to learn from that. The fact is I made a mistake, that's what it comes down to, and what I need to focus on now is a big game tomorrow for us.

"I was taken in a car with friends and taken to the bar and got there, had a beer and thought 'I need to get out of this place'."

England's hopes of reaching the semi-finals suffered a blow with New Zealand claiming a five-wicket win in Durban.

Collingwood's men looked to be heading for victory when they were 80-1 after restricting Daniel Vettori's Kiwis to 164.

But the loss of the wickets of Collingwood (3), Kevin Pietersen (24), Andrew Flintoff (1), Owais Shah (21), Dimitri Mascarenhas (0) and Luke Wright (2) after Darren Maddy (50) was run out cost England dear.

Ultimately a 60-run fifth-wicket between Scott Styris (42) and Craig McMillan (57) helped revive the Kiwis after they had stumbled to 31-4 before Vettori and Shane Bond claimed two wickets apiece with the ball.
