Winehouse slammed for 'glamorising' drugs
Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss have come under fire from the United Nations for 'glamorising' the use of cocaine.
A top UN official singled out the stars while warning of the dangers Britain faces from the dealings of Colombian drug barons, who have recently found new routes to bring drugs into Europe.
Antonio Costa, head of the UN's Office on Drugs and Crime said that young people in the UK are at risk, as cocaine use has doubled among Britons in the last ten years.
Mr Costa said: "Look at Kate Moss who still receives lucrative contracts after she was photographed sniffing (cocaine).
Referring to Winehouse's hit son Rehab, Costa added: "Rock stars, like Amy Winehouse, become popular by singing 'I ain't going to rehab' even though she badly needed, and eventually sought treatment.
"A sniff here and a sniff there in Europe are causing another disaster in Africa, to add to its poverty, its mass unemployment and its pandemics."
Supermodel Moss was allegedly snapped taking drugs in a recording studio in September 2005, but bounced back from the scandal by winning contracts with top designers, including Christian Dior.
And singer Winehouse spent a brief spell in rehab, after allegedly taking a drugs overdose in August.
