Olsson to miss Olympics

Olympic triple jump champion Christian Olsson has pulled out of the Games in Beijing through injury.

The 28-year-old Swede hurt a thigh during a meeting in Stockholm.

"I am not so disappointed" - Christian Olsson

He said: "The Olympics are gone, the whole season is gone.

"I was nervous about how the body would react, I've suffered from niggling injuries for so long.

"Now I'll have to see if it's going to heal. It's just so difficult at this level.

"Oddly enough, I'm not so disappointed. I've had a fantastic career but now I have to think about what's going to happen in the future."

Olsson was expected to battle with Great Britain's Phillips Idowu for the gold medal in China.
