Keywords: Henry Webster, hammer attack

A gang is to be sentenced in connection with a brutal hammer attack on a 16-year-old schoolboy.

Henry Webster suffered three skull fractures, one of which caused a brain injury and required surgery, when he was set upon at Ridgeway School in Wroughton, Wiltshire, in January last year.

"For those there, it made a sickening sight. The sort of which you would expect to see in a Quentin Tarantino film - certainly not at a school in a village in Wiltshire" - James Patrick

A group of 12 Asian males were found guilty of plotting to beat Henry, in scenes compared to a Quentin Tarantino film.

Wasif Khan, 18, Amjad Qazi, 19, and two boys aged 15 and 16, who cannot be named, were convicted in February of carrying out the attack.

Three other youngsters, aged 15 and 16, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm before the first trial began.

In a separate hearing, Aqduss Rauf, 20, Bilal Yakub, 18, Rouble Meah, 20, Mahbub Ali, 19, and Kamran Khan, 24, all from Swindon, were all found guilty of a conspiracy to cause actual bodily harm.

A jury had been told how the men, from Swindon, travelled to Wroughton for the fight, which had been co-ordinated through a sequence of phone calls and text messages.

Prosecutor James Patrick said of the attack: "For those there, it made a sickening sight. The sort of which you would expect to see in a Quentin Tarantino film - certainly not at a school in a village in Wiltshire."

The jury was told how Henry, a 6ft 2in rugby player with bright red hair, was targeted because he "stood out".

The gang will be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court.
